Community Relations

When people work together, great things happen. All across U.S. Bancorp, our employees and our company share a strong tradition of joining forces to build great places that we call home.

We work with community partners who understand the needs of individuals, families and organizations, and match our resources with those community needs. Through our collaborations, families can find affordable places to call home, people can gain job skills, kids from diverse backgrounds can achieve in school, and the wealth of the arts can become more accessible to everyone. Working together, we can develop creative solutions that maximize our human and financial potential.

You can count on us to help meet community needs in many ways, including providing cash grants, loan assistance, in-kind donations, sponsorships of nonprofit organizations, and volunteering our time and expertise.

Charitable Giving
Through the U.S. Bancorp Foundation, we provided more than $20.6 million in cash grants to qualified nonprofit organizations in 2009 (see chart). Tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations in our 24-state banking region that are interested in applying for a grant should review our grant guidelines and grant application. Questions should be directed to the appropriate charitable giving contact.

Community Development
We made more than $22.6 billion in loans and investments during 2007 to help support the creation of affordable housing, economic revitalization, and organizations providing critically needed services to low- and moderate-income individuals and areas (see chart). We also offer many innovative products and services through our Lending Assistance Program that help people with low and moderate incomes achieve home ownership and launch businesses, as well as help to revitalize local neighborhoods and communities. Organizations or individuals within our 24-state banking region should contact the appropriate state community development manager to inquire about these loans, products and services.
